IDAL is more than an investment and export promotion agency. We work everyday to support Lebanese businesses to grow and scale up through various activities and events. We work on lobbying for an enabling environment for businesses, we propose legislation reforms that support the growth of SMEs in Lebanon, we partner with international organizations to increase the capacity of Lebanese businesses and provide them the needed tools to remain competitive regionally and globally.

IDAL represented by its Chairman, Dr. Mazen Soueid participated in the virtual fair that was organized by the Cedar Oxygen Fund – the first trade financing fund in Lebanon – to promote Lebanese industrial brands to European suppliers and help connect them with potential buyers. During the intervention of Dr. Soueid in the fair, he highlighted the promising role of the agri-food industries in Lebanon and highlighted some success stories of companies that were able to penetrate global markets especially in the EU.

IDAL recently launched a digital campaign to support the promotion of the Lebanese industrial sector and highlight success stories in entering global and competitive markets. This campaign comes at a time when the industrial sector is in dire need to expand to new markets given the acute financial crisis in Lebanon. IDAL as the national investment and export promotion agency is mandated through the Investment promotion Law 360 to support local industries in marketing, branding and business matchmaking.

IDAL through its chairman, Dr. Mazen Soueid, participated in the International Trade Council’s Think Global Conference – the world’s largest event focused on helping businesses expand internationally on April 12 2021. Dr. Soueid had an intervention at the conference explaining about Lebanese companies resilience in view of the global COVID-19 crisis and the local financial crisis.

The Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL) and Fair Trade Lebanon (FTL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation commitment to help Lebanese SMEs and cooperatives access export markets. This MOU comes as part of the BIEEL project (Business Innovation & Enhance Exports for Lebanon) that was launched by FTL and funded by US MEPI to support Lebanese cooperatives and enterprises in entering new markets.

LifiCorp, an agri-food manufacturer supported by IDAL, has expanded its operations and started exporting its products from Jezzine in the South of Lebanon to many countries abroad under the brand name Mum’s Chips. IDAL has helped the apple chips company throughout the whole set-up process and provided it with a reduction on fees of establishment and exemption from corporate taxes as the company committed to creating jobs for the local population and supporting local farmers.

IDAL organized in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency a webinar “Italian Technologies for the Agro-Industry in Lebanon” to support local companies forge industry collaborations with Italian companies. IDAL launched in November 2020 a call for applications for a new project called “E-commerce and Women-Led SMEs in Lebanon” that was implemented by the World Bank and the International Trade Center (ITC) in coordination with the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL). This project aimed at increasing access to local and international markets and increase sales of women-owned small and medium enterprises (WSMEs) via improved access to e-commerce platforms.
